Netflix became the subject of controversy after it started charging extra fees to subscribers who shared their passwords. Now, it seems Max will do the same.

Last Wednesday (23), the streaming platform from Warner Bros. Discovery announced that it will implement an additional fee of $7.99 per month for each user accessing the platform outside of the subscriber’s primary residence.

Called “Extra Member Add-On“, this measure allows subscribers to add extra access to their accounts. In this way, users can log in with their own credentials without needing the subscriber’s login.

With “Profile Transfer“, the platform will also allow users to transfer their profile information to another account. This way, members can retain their viewing history, recommendations, and general settings.

“The Extra Member Add-On and Profile Transfer features are two important advancements for Max,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery.

“They are designed to offer viewers a new way to enjoy our world-class content with great value, while also providing subscribers with more flexibility in managing their accounts.”
